Fertilizer Prices Climb Again: Six Key Nutrients Lead November Surge
Retail fertilizer prices continue rising into late November, led by DAP, potash, and anhydrous. Rising costs may pressure farm budgets heading into 2026.
Fertilizer prices tracked across the U.S. for the third week of November 2025 show continued upward movement, with six of the eight major fertilizers reporting higher national average prices, according to the latest DTN Fertilizer Index. The climb adds pressure to farmers' input cost structures as they begin planning for the 2026 crop season.
Leading the price increases is DAP (diammonium phosphate), which jumped to an average of $928 per ton, up $188 since late May. Potash also continued its slow but steady climb, reaching $490/ton, while anhydrous ammonia surged to $862/ton, up more than $140 since mid-September.
Other nitrogen-based fertilizers also posted gains: UAN28 rose to $417/ton, UAN32 to $466/ton, and 10-34-0 to $667/ton.
In contrast, MAP (monoammonium phosphate) and urea showed slight declines from October, with MAP down to $926/ton and urea slipping to $594/ton.
Based on price per pound of nitrogen, current costs are:
-
Urea: $0.65/lb.N
-
Anhydrous: $0.53/lb.N
-
UAN28: $0.74/lb.N
-
UAN32: $0.73/lb.N
Compared to the same time last year, all eight fertilizers are now higher in price:
-
UAN28: +29%
-
UAN32: +28%
-
DAP: +25%
-
Anhydrous: +20%
-
Urea: +19%
-
MAP: +14%
-
Potash: +11%
-
10-34-0: +9%
