The U.S. fertilizer market showed divergent trends during the third week of October 2025, with half of tracked fertilizers posting price gains while the rest saw modest declines. The standout was anhydrous ammonia, which climbed 8% month-over-month to an average of $838 per ton, according to DTN's weekly retailer survey.

Anhydrous is now 20% more expensive than a year ago, reinforcing concerns among U.S. farmers about rising input costs ahead of the 2026 planting season. Prices for DAP, MAP, and potash also inched upward, with DAP averaging $922/ton, MAP at $932/ton, and potash at $486/ton. Though the changes were small, they continued an upward trajectory seen over the past several months.

Meanwhile, urea, 10-34-0, UAN28, and UAN32 all saw slight declines. Urea averaged $595/ton, while 10-34-0 came in at $666/ton. The UAN solutions followed suit, with UAN28 at $414/ton and UAN32 at $466/ton.

On a per-pound nitrogen basis, the breakdown was as follows:

• Urea: $0.65/lb.N

• Anhydrous: $0.51/lb.N

• UAN28: $0.74/lb.N

• UAN32: $0.73/lb.N

All eight major fertilizers are now more expensive year-over-year. Potash, the final holdout from last year, has risen 8%, while 10-34-0 is up 10%, MAP 16%, urea and anhydrous 20%, DAP 25%, UAN32 29%, and UAN28 leads with a 31% increase compared to October 2024.
