Case IH has raised the bar in tractor performance with the introduction of the 785 Quadtrac, which now stands as the most powerful production tractor in the company's lineup. It delivers a 10% horsepower increase over the 715 Quadtrac and represents a new benchmark in the Steiger series.

"The 785 builds on what we have currently for a Steiger offering, taking it to that next level," said Mark Burns, marketing manager for Case IH four-wheel-drive tractors in North America.

This performance boost is achieved through major internal upgrades to the 16-liter FPT engine, including redesigned fuel injectors, pistons, and oil flow systems to enhance both lubrication and cooling. These changes, along with a new engine dataset, are aimed at maximizing power output while improving reliability.

Engineered for the Field of the Future

Built for the most demanding fieldwork, the 785 Quadtrac is designed to handle large implements such as 41-foot high-speed discs, massive air seeders, and seed tanks, maintaining speed and traction under deep compaction. A 40% torque rise offers significant power reserves under load, ensuring the tractor remains productive in the toughest soil conditions.

To handle its massive power, engineers upgraded the transmission, axles, and differential assembly. The SCR-only emissions system has also been simplified to focus the engine's capacity on raw performance, with emissions treated post-combustion.

Tech and Comfort for Long Days in the Cab

In addition to power, the 785 includes modern operator-focused technology like Case IH FieldOps, AutoTurn, and real-time machine-to-machine data sharing. It also features free connectivity, and for model year 2026, ergonomic improvements such as a redesigned right-hand post and additional foot pegs for comfort during long field days.

Legacy Meets Innovation in Steiger Tribute

While the production model is painted in traditional Case IH red, the one-off lime green prototype displayed at Farm Progress pays tribute to the Steiger family's legacy. Details like custom green seat stitching and Douglass Steiger's signature on the cab connect the model to its historic roots.

"Using innovation and entrepreneurship, [the Steiger family] built what they needed. It's well-known for power and performance," Burns said. "The 785 really embodies all those features."

Warranty and Market Positioning

The production 785 Quadtrac comes with a three-year, 2,000-hour warranty, offering assurance for large-scale operators investing in high-output machinery. According to Kurt Coffey, head of marketing for Case IH Global, the launch reflects Case IH's ongoing investment in helping U.S. farmers stay globally competitive by optimizing power and efficiency on existing platforms.
