The Rosario Grains Exchange has raised its wheat harvest forecast to 23 million metric tons for the 2025/26 season, citing widespread rainfall and favorable growing conditions across Argentina's agricultural heartland. If realized, the harvest would equal the country's historical wheat production record set four years ago, reinforcing Argentina's standing as a major player in the global grain supply chain.

According to the exchange's October report, the yield surge is especially notable in Buenos Aires Province, where farmers are seeing returns of up to 4 metric tons per hectare. "We've never seen the wheat look like this," agronomists reported to the exchange, highlighting the extraordinary crop health.

The announcement arrives at a pivotal moment for global commodity markets. With uncertainty in U.S. wheat production and tight supplies in key Northern Hemisphere exporters, Argentina's robust output could help ease international wheat prices and provide opportunities for importers seeking competitive alternatives.

Argentina's wheat harvest is set to begin in the coming weeks and will continue into January. While wheat takes center stage, the exchange also confirmed its previous projections for soybeans and corn, maintaining expectations at 47 million tons of soybeans and a record 61 million tons of corn. The 2025/26 corn crop is already 28% planted, while soybean sowing is expected to begin in mid-October.

As the world's top exporter of soybean oil and meal and the third-largest corn exporter, Argentina's crop performance is closely watched by global buyers, particularly China and the European Union. Favorable climatic patterns, robust infrastructure, and competitive pricing have bolstered Argentina's role as a strategic supplier in the international ag trade.

With climate variability and market volatility reshaping agricultural strategies, Argentina's wheat success this season underscores the importance of resilient farming practices and regional weather advantages.
